Our story

A local crew that lives on the water

Vermont Unlimited started because paddlers, anglers, and hunters in this corner of the state deserved a real dealer. Someone who knows these boats cold, sets them up right, and is still around when you have a question a season later.

Why we're different

We fish and hunt out of these boats.

We chose NuCanoe because it's the platform we trust on our own water. Stable enough to stand and cast, tough enough for the marsh, and modular enough to build exactly the rig you need. Every recommendation comes from time on the water, not a spec sheet.

  • By appointment, so you get real one-on-one time
  • Honest advice on the right boat and setup for you
  • Local support that doesn't end at the sale

How a visit works

Appointment only, on purpose

We are not a showroom with a greeter. When you book a time, you get the shop and one of us for as long as it takes.

1. Tell us your water

Rivers, ponds, big lakes, the marsh. Fishing, hunting, or both. That conversation narrows four boats to one or two before you ever sit in one.

2. Sit in it, stand in it

Every model is here. Sit in the seat, stand on the deck, see how the rigging lays out. Bring your rods or your gun case if you want to see how they mount.

3. Leave with a plan

A boat, a drive or motor if you want one, the accessories that matter for how you use it, and a rack or trailer that fits your vehicle. Or just the boat, if that is where you want to start.

Why NuCanoe, and only NuCanoe

One brand, known cold.

We could carry six brands and know a little about each. We carry one and know everything about it. Every hull, every seat position, every mount, every drive, and what actually works on Vermont water in April and November.

That is also why we can rig a boat right the first time. We have made the mistakes on our own boats already.

About the shop

Questions about visiting us

Why appointment only?

So you get the whole shop and one of us for as long as it takes. No waiting, no half answers. You leave with a boat that fits, not a brochure.

Where are you?

59 Harwood Hill Road in Bennington, Vermont. We serve paddlers across Vermont, western Massachusetts, and eastern New York.

Do you only sell NuCanoe?

Yes. One brand, known cold. We fish and hunt out of these boats ourselves, which is why every recommendation comes from experience rather than a catalog.

What happens after the sale?

We are right here. Questions a season later, an accessory you want added, a rack for a new truck. Call or come by.
